Take the picture/video

Take the picture. Take the picture with your phone or camera. But take that picture.

I have so many memories stored in my head, but with so many of those- I have pictures. Take the hard pictures. Of the hard memories, the ones that made you stronger. When you look at those, you’ll feel emotional. But I hope you feel stronger.

From someone who has almost lost their child, multiple times- take the picture. When you see the picture again, it’s like the memory replays in your head automatically.

Take the video. Take the long videos that seem ridiculous. Take the ones that draw out but when you rewatch them, it brings you tears of joy. Take the video of your kid’s “Watch me” for the hundredth time of them doing something silly.

When you watch their face light up in the picture/video, chances are- yours is doing the same.

I look at the hard pictures, the sad ones, the happiest ones, the peaceful ones, all too often. Every single time I do, I feel the emotions. Sometimes the same ones I felt in that very moment. When I’m sad, I watch the silly videos of my kid’s and I laugh. They bring me joy. There is something about a picture that holds so much power. When someone says “a picture says a thousand words”, believe them.

Today and everyday, I hope you take the picture.
